Our
flock of approximately 100 brood ewes has evolved through a
strenuous selection process, which emphasized structure and
genetic predictability, as well as balance and muscle shape.
We've also tried to include a few "bells and whistles"
such as tight front ends, neat chest floors, flat loins and big
hips, with hopes of pleasing even the most critical of
evaluators.
This
line-breeding program was generated through the use of Cabaniss
and Hancock genetics. Each breeding piece was critically
selected for our flock with specific traits in mind. From those
few rams and ewes, a very dominant group of ewe families have
surfaced dating back to an old, line-bred Cabaniss 212 ewe, to
some more current lines which revolve around our original
Hancock Ram "Broker" (31 x 411). You can find Time,
801, 31, 411, and "Stopwatch" many times in our
pedigree's. These revolutionary sires are the foundation of our
program.
"Trademark"
(31 x 411) and "Patent" (Rupp x Broker / 801) are once
again the
featured sires for our 2004 crop. We have found these two proven
rams to be the epitome of consistency within our program. In
their first year of production, "Trademark" and "Patent's" lambs were very
well received, not only from elite feeders, but judges alike. In
their second year they have established themselves as two of the
most powerful Hampshire stud rams in the industry. Both of which
have generated champion wethers and produced ram lambs that are
at work in some of the most notable flocks in the country.
Due
to our aggressive pursuit to breed "the great one" we
have invested in two, partial outcross rams. The first,
"2100", is the ram lamb we purchased half interest in
from Mike Hancock. He is by Miller "244" on the top
side and a "31" daughter. We feel this guy can add a
new dimension to our program without sacrificing the muscle and
pattern that we have labored over. If you like them stacked with
muscle, coupled with and awesome touch and extremely wedge-like
pattern in there top design, then he should please even the most
skilled evaluator. He will be utilized on both
"Trademark" and "Broker" daughters
primarily. With his first crop on the ground we've noticed a
definite trend in his offspring. awesome rack, loin and hip
shape with that little extra kick down low.
The
second addition is an RRNN ram from the Cabaniss flock.
"Timber is an April 12th son of "Cash" and dammed
by a "118" daughter, thus he is tightly linebred and
truly exotic visually. He offers the most dynamic combination of
pure muscle shape and elegance that can be achieved in one specimen.
Our expectations of this sheep are lofty and we think you'll see
why. The 2004 crop will be heavily influenced by Timber.
We have also retained the services of two "Trademark" sons from
the 2002 lamb crop. Both lambs are dammed by tremendous "277"
daughters, and since we feel strongly about the quality of the
"277" line, we thought it necessary to allow both of these rams
an opportunity to mature. "Protocol" and "Icon" have
evolved into two of most promising young rams in the industry.
Each bringing to the table traits that are demanded by elite
breeders and feeders alike.
The
flock is maintained in the beautiful Uintah Basin of eastern
Utah. John and Jeane do all of the management, lambing and daily
care, while Clay and Lili do most of the marketing and take care
of many decisions related to breeding and genetics. If any
questions arise, please feel free to contact either family.
You
will find that we are very critical of our breeding program and
make rigid decisions regarding our ewe flock and their
production. We expect our females to be neat uddered, highly
maternal, and low maintenance. The ram's that are produced, and
offered for sale, are those that we have kept to watch for use
in our own breeding program. They are obviously from proven ewe
families that we have faith in, and only the elite remain
intact. Because of our stringent selection process, we feel that
our customers can purchase stud rams with confidence.
It
is because of our fierce quest to produce complete, high
quality, predictable show lambs and breeding stock that we can
offer genetics that we're proud to promote. We wish all of you
the best of luck in your sheep related endeavors and sincerely
hope we can work with you in the future. |
