Lamb Crop

Stud Rams

Genesis is the biggest piece in our puzzle, purchased in 2001 from Matt Nichols after we leased him the previous year.  The lambs out of the Miller 590 daughters were just too good and too consistent for us to do anything but own this ram!  Genesis sired lambs have explosive and very level hips, big tops, combined with tremendous length and pattern!  We think this ram is one of the most consistent Hampshire breeding rams around today!

Genesis was slated to be Brad Dale's lead entry at the 1999 Corporation I sale, but was purchased privately ahead of the sale by Matt Nichols.  He combines tremendous length of body with a ton of very correct muscle, all wrapped up in a beautiful profile.  He is sired by the Warrior buck which Brad purchased from Barbara Garvie, and his dam has a unique combination of Cabaniss and Priour (Hot Shot) breeding.  He DNA tests free of the spider gene and RR for the scrapie resistance gene.

Hott Shot is the newest addition to our Stud Ram lineup.  We have been looking for an outcross for several years without finding THE ram that puts together the extension, length, pattern and muscle to use on our linebred group of ewes that are heavy in Genesis and Miller 590 bloodlines.  We found him in the spring of 2003 when we found a ram lamb at Brad and Deb Ott's, we quickly found out that this was their keeper buck lamb, and he wasn't for sale.  Fortunately, we were able to convince Ott's to sell this ram early in 2004, they did retain breeding rights. Hott Shot is out of Checkmate and a Kodak daughter, what really sold the ram to us was his Maternal Granddam, Goldberg.  For those of you that have ever seen her, I don't need to say anymore, for those who have not, she is one of the biggest, most complete Hampshire ewes I have ever laid my eyes on.  Goldberg is out of Derby (Hancock 31 son), Kodak is also out of Derby, so Hott Shots Mother is Double bred Derby, which peaked our interest even more.  Needless to say we are ecstatic about the January and early February lambs we have out of Hott Shot and our Genesis daughters!! Take a look at Otts Website for a picture of Hott Shot at about 14 month of age.   Bloodwork: NNRR

Rocket Boyis a son of Genesis and out of a Miller 590 daughter. This ram was our Keeper ram lamb in 2003 and was slated to be our lead ram to the 2004 Nugget All-American Show and Sale in Reno, Nevada as a yearling. That was until his lambs hit the ground, we only had 5 lambs out of him, but everyone was a good one. Rocket is being used on Genesis daughters to lineup that genetics even tighter than we already have it. Half-Brother x Half-Sister mating don't always work, but ALL of his lambs are extended, level, balanced with plenty of muscle and grow!! Bloodwork: NNRR

ftch261d.jpg (54305 bytes)Hawkeye The addition of Rocket Boy and Hott Shot to our Stud Ram lineup allows us to sell Hawkeye. As a breeder it is important to use every genetic tool available to produce consistent prepotent sires and dams. This is a linebred son of Blackhawk out of a Genesis daughter. He was born in March 2002 and the talk of the barn. We have used him heavily on Genesis and Blackhawk daughter with great results. He has tightened up our bloodlines and produced a set of lambs that have produced consistent stud quality progeny for our buyers. DNA Bloodwork: NNRR

Miller 590 was our pick of Jimmy Miller's lamb crop back in 1995, unfortunately, he was Jimmy's keeper and we did not get him purchased that year.  However, we were able to convince Jimmy to sell half of him to us in 1996!!  He is now deceased, but most of the ewes in our flock are sired by 590.  His lambs are upfronted, level hipped and super fronted with plenty of muscle.  His daughters are tremendous producers, and the cross of Genesis back on 590 daughters has worked very well for us.  He was DNA tested and is also NNRR, we do have semen available on him and plan to use him ourselves again in the near future.

Black Hawk is sired by the Jim Miller "Wild Thing" ram and out of one of our own ewes.  He is being used heavily on Genesis daughters and most of our late lambs that have received so much attention are out of him.  He DNA tests NNQR
