 About Forgey Club Lambs . . .

The relationship between the Forgey Family and Sheep Industry began in 1969, but we really didn't get serious about the Club Lamb end of it until the early and mid 1970's with the purchase of a Forest Nelson Ram from Meeker, Co. out of the infamous "Big Boy" -- The First Certified Meat Sire. In the early '90's we purchased a Hill Country "4" son and a group of 20 McIlrath Yearling Ewes from Steve Lee of KY. Though we had experienced considerable showring success in the past, it was this acquisition that put us at the top consistently. Since that time our show lambs and breeding sheep have been widely received by breeders and exhibitors throughout Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan. Our show record consists of many winners in jackpot, county, regional and state fair shows. (2 Overall Champion at West Virginia State Fair and Champion Carcass at Kentucky State Fair.

Our breeding stock predominantly traces back to Bruce Achor and especially McIlrath/Wattonville. 90% of our 70 brood Ewe flock possesses the influence of Shell "212" (RRNN). We have used 3 "212" sons the last 6 years.

The mettle on which we have constantly based our breeding program have been cutability of carcass and production --- the mainstays of any serious sheep producer.

Over the years we have sold our breeding sheep and club lambs either privately or through our club lamb sale, but this year we're venturing out to the Eastern Stud Ram Sale. We are extremely deep in quality this year in our yearling Ewes, Ewe lambs and Ram lambs. Check us out at Staunton!
