Thanks to all of our buyers at the Mid West Stud Ram Sale and all of our Spring Sales!

Just letting you know the ram lamb that I bought, the res. nat. color at Richmond, is growing and doing well. Just to verify he is rr/nn? I couldn’t be anymore happy with the lambs out of Powerhorse. He did an absolute wonderful job for me. I have never had such a good top set of lambs or as deep a set. Would the ram lamb be to closely related to breed to the PH daughters? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Frank Hoover

Thanks for the the help. You are correct about the super hides and muscle. I sheared a bunch of ewe lambs out of him and they were all that way.

We are extremely pleased with the lambs out of both “PR” and “Cobra”  They made us proud and the interest in our program has soared!

Barb,

It was nice to meet you and Larry at the sale Saturday. I was impressed with the quality of animals that was brought in for the sale. I did try to purchase a couple of your ewes, but just couldn't get them bought. I was however, able to buy a couple ewes from Schminkes, and am pleased with them. I hope to make this an annual trip, as I hope to add to and improve my ewe base. I will be in the market for a ram next year, and would be interested in visiting your place to see what you have.

Thanks again for all your correspondence. I hope you enjoy a successful lambing season.

Happy Holidays!

Jeff Walters

Barb,

Glad to hear you got the pictures o.k.

Congratulations, on the connection with the Naile win!!! You should be very proud of the impact that your program continues to have on the show lamb industry.

Very impressive to think about all of the different Breeders, Winners, Sires, son's of Sires & Ewes across the country that are associated with the two great twins (2000 & 2001)

Keep up the great work.

My wife and I are still studying the sale list and I am sure we will have some questions.

Let me know if you have any questions on the pictures.

2 Grands & 5 Reserves
Various Shows and Jackpots

Barb,

It has been a long time since we have given you an update and I apologize.

We have had a very exciting year and we thought we would let you know how things have gone.

We just returned home from the Northern International Livestock Expo. (NILE) in Billings Montana. Amy our oldest daughter was Reserve Champion. We had 2 other class winners and a 2nd in class.

So far this year we have had 2 Grands and 5 Reserves at various shows and jackpots. All of our champion except for one was out of the ram that we bought from you at the 2002 corp. (Powerhorse x BT 171). He continues to do us a great job, we just have to keep close track of his fertility and not overload him with ewes. The picture that is attached is of the reserve lamb at Billings. He is a February wether by our Harm's ram and out of a Bodacious daughter. I will send you photo's of each of the other winners soon. How are things on your end? Please give us an update.

God Bless...

Hi Barb,

I just wanted to drop you a note to say that PTO has sired two county fair grand champions and numerous class winners at the county AND state fair levels this year. But..... to top it all off, we were recently informed that he sired the GRAND and RESERVE champion carcass lambs at the 2005 Wisconsin State Fair. The grand carcass lamb was out of a McCune (Fields 44 X Northern Star) dtr. and the reserve was out of a Shell 212 dtr. purchased from Harold in '02.

As you can imagine, we are very happy with his performance this year.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to visiting with you in the near future.

Champion Wether Dam
2005 State Fair & Lassen Co. Fair

Hi Barb,

Hope all is well with you and yours,....wanted to let you know that the ewe we bought at Sedalia a year ago was Ch. wether dam at our state fair again this year.....here is the picture, not the greatest I'm afraid but will try to get something better here at the place before she is bred...She was also Ch at Lassen Co fair in July, have 35mm pix of that and hopefully they will be better of the ewe...will send one of those if they turn out.....Take care...

Sherri Blakeslee

Barb and Larry, we had our lambs show this week at the Plymouth County Fair here in Iowa, which is a very competitive fair with a lot of people that show at major shows. Our ewe lambs won Grand and Reserve Grand, our yearling ewe won Reserve Grand, and our ram lamb won Reserve Grand. It was our best showing ever. We wanted to thank you for your help in the past with the two rams we got from you and your advise on keeping the ewe lambs to get a more uniform herd. I read on your web site that Larry is having some health problems. So sorry to hear that, we'll add him to our prayers.

We've had an addition to our family of a daughter last year, we named her Reagan (14 months old), she joins her brothers: Elijah who is 4, and Jacob who is 21. We really enjoy being old parents and Carol can't wait to get the young ones into showing sheep, she hates the lambing part though. She can't stand to lose any lambs and puts up a tremendous effort to be there for every lamb born. We quit showing at the Iowa State Fair until the two young ones get a little older. Jacob will be a senior this year at Central College in Pella, Iowa. I went to Promise Keepers this year with my nephew who is home from serving in Afganistan. My niece graduated from ROTC and goes to Iraq in October along with her new husband, another nephew served in Pakistan last year, and yet another nephew is currently in Iraq, so we keep up on the war efforts and keep the soldiers and the president in our prayers.

We're getting a lot better control on those Buffalo Burrs (yellow flowers) in our pasture. The crops look good around here and most of the farmers say it will be one of their best crops. I assume you guys are getting hit with the drought. Anyway just wanted to send you a note of thanks and to wish all the best for you and your family. If you ever have any more old rams you want to get rid of, we'd be interested.

If you have any prayer requests let us know and we'll have our church pray also. We have a wonderful Lord.

Your's in Christ,
Bryan and Carol Stocking

Mr. Larry and Mrs. Barb:

Wanted to extend my gratitude for all the special things you have done! I appreciate you selecting the buck, ewe, and wether for me in '04 . I was well pleased with them and they proved to be competitive in our fall shows! The wether was Grand Champion at Pitt Co. and the ewe was Reserve Heavy at Craven Co. Power RE-Load has excelled my expectations! He has grown into an extraordinary individual and sired the Reserve Champion at the Washington/Beaufort Counties 4-H Show on May 4th.

The ewe I purchased at the Market Lamb Mama Sale (Lot 418) had an awesome buck lamb in February! The individual that purchased him seems well pleased! Thanks again for offering BB-G35 at the R.O.B.E.S! She had a phenomenal set of buck lambs in January. We are keeping one of them, Forty Two, and the other will be at the Eastern Stud in June.

The three ewe lambs we purchased this spring are stylish and they have the extra length and smoothness to catch someone's eye. I am certain they will work wonderful with PR! Their style and length will complement his extraordinary muscle tone! They are prospective individuals and it will be interesting to see how they perform this fall!

Thanks again for your kindness and compassion!

Love,
Emilou

Mrs. Harms

I got your message last night at home, but it was late so I was unable to get back with you. I would love to have registration papers on him if it would be at all possible. I have a hand full of ewes that are registered as well. Let me know if I need to get any other information to you as well. We made it home in good shape, and he is going good on feed. I pulled him in yesterday and blanketed him and put him in the barn because he was a little cold in the rain. Now I am really glad that I did this, because we have a little over 6 inches of snow. We are extremely happy with him. He is one of the widest based rams I have seen this year. I was also happy with his substance of bone and over all eye appeal. That is something thing that I need to add to some of my ewes. I am all ready looking forward to next spring. I think that the lambs should look pretty awesome.

Thank you for the pedigree, the registration papers, and for having a high quality ram at the Corp I.

Crandal Mergelman

Hi Larry and Barb,

I purchased the Slam Dunk buck lamb from you back in July. Just wanted to update you on his progress and let you know how pleased I am with his growth and overall size this far. I have about a dozen of his first lambs on the ground, and I think he has added just what I was looking for. The added length of body and surprising front end extension is exactly what I was in search for when we visited you last summer. I hope the photo came through, and will keep you updated as he continues to grow.

I will be interested in purchasing a new buck in the coming months for 2005. If you could keep me posted with what you may have available, I would really appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Chad Ellis

Barb

I just wanted to let you know that the ewe (P-310) I purchased from you at the ROBE sale made it to our house today. She is wonderful. Thank-you so much for offering such a wonderful ewe to be purchased. I am very excited about her lambs. I purchased her mainly because she was bred to Bingo, and I like him LOTS. I hope to continue to be able to purchase sheep from you in the future. Thanks again.

Granddaughter's Grand champion ewe as a lamb at 2003 county fair

Hi Larry and Barb

Larry you finally get to see the picture!! Sorry I kept forgetting to bring it to a sheep event.

This lamb was sired by our millionaire son who of course was sired by your 2000 Ram as you can about your sheep (THEY DO BREED ON)

Would you folks let us know when would be a good time to check into a RE-LOAD son next spring.

Thought you had a GREAT sale, some really nice sheep consigned by all.

Livestock Exposition (NILE)
Billing, Montana

We took the same two ewe lambs that we had shown at the Utah State Fair. Amy was the class winner in Class 2 and Brant was second in Class 3, behind the Grand Champion. They also did very well in showmanship.

We were very pleased, this being our first National show. We made the sale with both lambs but we decided to pull them and bring them home.

They will go back into our breeding program

September 2003

Barb & Larry;

I wanted to drop you a line and catch you up to date with our "Honeymoon" ram we bought at the Premier 10 sale in Indy, 2002.
We decided to selectively breed him to a small handful of ewe lambs for 2003 for some stud daughters. I didn't want to work him too hard or run him down too much as a lamb - he was just too valuable.
Patience is a virtue!
We were excited to finally see the results, even though most of the lambs were too young for us to show competitively in the early season. Sometimes ewe lambs just don't cooperate and breed when you'd like them too.
On a lark, I noseprinted several of them, just in case we decided to take some of the smaller lambs to county fair - with two children competing, we didn't want to see them compete against each other!
Our other lambs grew to within the required weight for county fair, so the Honeymoon daughters stayed home to grow.
With a week until state fair, Ashley really liked one of the girls so we sheared her up and loaded her off to the state fair.
We shouldn't have been surprised that she won her weight class of 115 pounds quite easily.
We shouldn't have been surprised that she won on her carcass traits alone, as we hadn't been actively working or exercising her as a show lamb.

This year, Honeymoon is weighing in at about 250 pounds and had marked all the ewes within a week of placement, right on time.

I can't wait to see what he has in store for 2004.

Thanks for producing quality animals in a very conscientious and ethical way. I'ts a hard combination to come by these days.

March 2003

Barbara & Larry

Just wanted to let you know that Mary won Supreme Champion Market Lamb at our county fair last month (Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival).
This ewe lamb is out of Harmful and a ewe we purchased the same year we bought Harmful in Sedalia, she is a ewe from the Nichols Show Lamb in KS, which is Cabaniss and Miller breeding. What a great cross between the two, breed them back the same way for this years breeding.

Hope you and Larry are great and your lambing season is one too!

Our lambing season has been great so far this year, lost count of how many are on the ground, but we do have approx. 20 ewes to go.

Love Ya!!

August 2002

Larry and Barb,

Wanted to let you know that Esau, maternal half brother to Power Horse and purchased from you in 2000, sired the Champion ewe lamb at the 2002 Tennessee Sheep Producers Futurity in June. He also sired numerous winning wethers which went to Georgia, Virginia and, of course, Tennessee. He topped it off by siring, among several class winners, the Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2002 Tennessee Junior Livestock Expo last week. The show featured 575 lambs and was judged by Bob Kimm. I was fortune to have bred this tremendous wether. Esau has proven himself as a superior stud ram.

Best wishes,
Larry Pierce

A letter from Paul Thompson:
bourboncountywinner.jpg (47652 bytes) Just thought I would send you a picture of a couple of the the lambs we are showing sired by one of your rams. The wether lamb that Jacob has shown has been Reserve Grand Novice lamb in 3 District shows and Grand 3 times in two districts and our county fair. The ewe lamb was prospect champion at our Green River District Show in June. She also has a twin sister that has won her class 5 of 6 times out. Another picture of Joshua with the Grand Champion Bourbon County Lamb. We have another wether that was Reserve at our county fair. Not great pictures but they should give you an idea on how well we have liked the lambs. We bought your ram at the Sedalia in 2000, sired by Buzzsaw, and he has done very well for us and the people we have sold lambs to. I'll try to keep you posted on future winners of lambs sired by "Chainsaw."

Thank You Again,
Paul Thompson

SPECIAL THANKS to the Henline and Horrocks family for purchasing our lead off ram at the 2002 Corporation I Sale. Watch for the influence of this ram in Utah.

Larry & Barb;
Just thought I would send an email to let you know that the Ram Lamb that we purchased at the Corp Sale made it to Utah in great shape 1,080 miles. Again we would like to thank you for offering such a fine lamb that we feel will add what we were looking for and then some. The kids were very excited when we arrived home. We purchased the Ram as a partnership, Henline Family & Horrocks Family. We show lambs on a local & state level & sell club lambs to the local kids & a few from out of the area. I am a 4-H leader and have three children so that keeps us pretty busy.
We would like to see if the Harms 2002 name has been used this year. If it has or if you would like to reserve it for another lamb that is no problem, I am sure my kids can come up with a name.
Also, if it is not too much trouble I was wondering if we could get a little more information on the lambs pedigree for a few generations back.
Once again thank you very much and I look forward to hearing back from you. I will email some pictures along with a more formal thank you letter as soon as possible.

Thanks,

A letter from Doug & Tom Drudik

Hopefully lambing is going well for you, it's been rather busy around here but were all doing very well (even the weather is on our side). I really like the look of the lambs we are getting out of Superstar, I can see his impressive profile stamped in them already.
If you would like to see the lambs, I have the first of them pictured at:
http://www.nebraskasheep.com/cgi-bin/imageFolio/lambcatalog.cgi
We are expecting many more but we haven't had the time to get all of the pictures taken and posted. Congratulations on Reserve Grand at Souix Falls, I first saw it pictured at http://www.theshowbox.com but I see you have a couple pics up at your site as well.

Take care,
Doug
Here is another letter from Jacki Herrel

They are looking great!  We are so excited watching them grow.  Gladiator (Harms 2101) has made our sheep much prettier with the clean front end and just the amount of height we were needing to elevate our lambs and make them much more eye appealing.  We are running right at 200% on our lamb crop right now.  We have lived at the barn this year, making sure they are all born and get their feet under them before we leave them.  I'm not sure how many lambs he has sired total so far, but he has done an excellent job from what we can tell right now.  Quite a few people know we purchased the buck and we are getting quite a few calls from folks wanting to get in early and see the lambs.
It is exciting to anticipate what's in store.  I am so grateful we got the ram from you all and know that he is going to help push us to where we want to be.  It may take a couple years, but we are headed in the right direction.  Mike is really excited about the way the babies look.  He says it's the best set of lambs we've ever had, and we're not even half way done lambing yet.
Hope you all are having good luck.  We just had the worst ice storm and were without power for 10 days, lambing the whole time.  So we have been a little stressed out.  But, I believe God never gives you more than you can handle.  We made it through!  But I'm sure glad it's over.
We'll keep you posted on the lambs.  Thanks for keeping in touch!

Jacki Herrel

and another one from Nick Emanuel of Nebraska

Barb,
Lambing is going good so far and the lambs look really nice. I have had only  two ewes lamb out of the ram from you so far. I'm guessing that as a lamb he  must not have been too fertile early. But I'm excited to get more because  the lambs I have out of him look very good. And I know that Jerry Hensler  said one of his best lambs out of everything was a ewelamb out of him. It  should get pretty busy the rest of February and beginning of March with ewes  lambing out of him. I'll let you know more when I get more numbers on the  ground. Hope lambing is going good for you, and let me know if there is  anything really special that is sticking out. Thanks.

Hello Larry and Barb,

We purchased lot 3100 (The Game) a ram lamb from you at 2001 Sedelia. His lambs are GREAT, pictures will be up soon on our web page of his lambs (http://www.clublambpage.com/fosterclublamb/index.htm) " The Game" lambs are the buzz of our club lamb buyer's in Feb. so far. Thanks for the card at Christmas, your kindness when we bought this ram at Sedelia is hard to find in today's business.

You can add us to your list of satisfied customers. The Kool J son---out of BB Y 33 ear tag 46 has done a great job for us. As you know we also purchased Kool J after buying his son from you at The Home Of Champions sale at Wilmington, Oh. Kool J has added top and thickness, but his son from you has added that EXTRA style, length, AND top and thickness.
Thank you. We wish you a safe and successful sales season. We will see you at the sales.
