Rules for Entry:
1. Entrant must be 7 years old by January 1, 2008 but not older than 21.
2. Entrant must be a resident of Michigan for more than 6 months in each calendar year and must attend a Michigan school.
3. Entrant must be (or become at time of entry) a junior member of the MCLA or have a family
membership.
4. Entrants will show their own lambs unless they have multiple lambs in a class.
5. Entrants are not limited to showing only 2 sheep per show, however the points will only be accumulated from the two highest point-accumulating sheep. Sheep may only be shown once per show and by only one member.
6. Entrants who participate in showmanship will acquire points for each show regardless of the number of lambs shown.
7. Entrants will only accumulate points on their 4 best sanctioned shows.
8. Educational contests offered by shows are eligible for bonus points. The points are figured on the same scale as the market lamb and showmanship classes. Only one educational exhibit per show will be counted. Educational contests at the county fairs and the Michigan State Fair will not be eligible for these bonus points. Please note that not all shows offer educational contests, but will be encouraged to do so.
9. ***NEW*** This year MCLA youth challenge will host an MCLA born champion division. Shows
will be hosted at the following places: Tri-state, Central Summer Classic, & Blue and Gold. The rules are as follows: Lambs that are born on MCLA paid members farms are the only lambs eligible for the class. The lamb must have the scrapies tag from that farm in its ear. Farms are required to provide MCLA with their flock ID. At each of the three shows members will gain points as if they were in a regular market class that will be counted for bonus points. You are only eligible to enter one lamb per show in this class. It may be a lamb that you have entered in a standard market class earlier in the day. At the end of the 3 shows the 2 individuals with the most points will receive a cash prize.
10. ***NEW*** This year we will also be giving set bonus points to the overall top 5 lambs at each show.
11. There is no entry deadline for the contest, but the MCLA will only tally results from the date
of entry forward.
12. Ties will be broken based on showmanship. If there is still a tie, a name will be drawn.
13. All decisions made by the MCLA Youth Challenge Committee are final.
Note: Our main form of communication with you will be the website. Please check the website regularly to see any updates of information regarding shows, rules, and announcements.
