Pilot Programs for 2010:
The Show Committee recommends the following changes to the 2010 show season with the power to modify or eliminate these programs in the future:
Novice Division for Ohio Club Lamb Sanctioned Shows
- Open to any 5 to 8 years of old.
- Participants that are 8 years old and eligible for 4-H must show in the OCLA regular show
- Maximum of two lambs can be shown at any OCLA show.
- The entry for the novice participants $10 per lamb.
- All novice participants showing will receive $5 premium in market classes.
- Lambs shown by the novice participants can not weight over 120 lbs until July 1st
- Novice participants’ lambs will be divided into two classes: one black face class and one white face class with each class divided by weights if more than 15 head per class. These classes will only be for the novice participants.
- Brockles will show in white face class.
- Whiteface novice class will show before Brockles, and Black face novice class will before crossbred class.
- Novice participants and lambs cannot show for champion of the regular show.
- All participants must show their own lambs, no borrowing.
- All novice participants will show in the novice showmanship class after the 9 year old class of showmanship.
- No points will be kept on Novice participants for OCLA however if a novice participant attends 3 shows and is an OCLA member, they will receive an award at the banquet.
Commercial Ewe Show
- Class after showmanship and before “Hampshire” regular show.
- No Novice in Commercial Ewe Show
- Ewe lambs will be divided by weight.
- The entry for this show is $16.
- An overall champion and reserve should be selected between them and it is at the discretion of show management to determine payout.
- There is no minimum requirement on number of head to make this division.
- Commercial ewes will not show against market lambs and are not eligible to show in both shows.
- This show is not part of the regular market lamb show, exhibitors will be allowed to show up to six head for points in the regular show in addition to any ewe lambs the exhibitor shows in the new commercial ewe show, points and awards will be given for the commercial ewe show separate from the overall high point awards.
