With our lives
being focused on our 2-year son Wyatt, Pioneer Valley's FFA
program and Wonnell Auction Management we have really scaled
back the sheep project. Over this past school year, Scott
started Pioneer Valley FFA's Specialty Animal Judging Team.
Along with a lot of identification, this contest also
includes judging rabbits and giving a set of oral reasons.
Out of necessity to have rabbits to judge the Californian
and Mini Rex breeds became part of Wonnell Livestock. The
rabbit program has become very popular here at our family
farm. It is a nice small project for Wyatt to handle and
grow up learning about until he is old enough for larger
projects, the FFA was able to take meat pens from the
Californian project to County Fair, not to mention how fun
it has been taking part in this great project and meeting
the wonderful people that are involved in it. Our goal is to
have around 40 holes in the rabbitry with the major focus
being on the Californians for breed shows, meat pens and
local meat rabbit sales. We will also raise a small select,
high quality group of Mini Rex and Dutch. |
